About the Event

All on the Jazz Faculty at the University, the members of this Missoula-based ensemble have performed around the globe from Montana to Maine to China . This group is consistently working to groove in whatever genre is presented. The MJC performs standards, originals and fresh new takes on music, always with an emphasis on communication and improvisation. This exciting group is made up of guitarist Jeff Troxel, bassist Tommy Sciple, Bob LedBetter on drums set along with Rob Tapper (trombone) and Johan Eriksson (saxophone).

Eric Tapper currently lives and works in the Washington DC area as a freelancer and educator as well as a member of the US Army’s premier jazz ensemble, the US Army Blues. He has performed with greats such as Stefan Harris, Sean Jones, Terrell Stafford, Marshall Gilkes, Elliot Mason and George Colligan.  Prior to moving to DC, Tapper graduated from the University of North Texas in 2017 where he studied with legendary educator Ed Soph, was a member of the 7x Grammy-nominated One O’Clock Lab Band, and was awarded the 2016 Outstanding Undergraduate in Percussion award.  The summer after graduating from UNT, Eric won the drum set position in the 2017 Disneyland All-American College Band, where he was a featured performer at the park for 10 weeks and performed and learned from industry giants like Gordon Goodwin, Wycliffe Gordon, John Clayton and Wayne Bergeron.

Music will begin around 8:30p, doors open at 7:00p - there will be a 30 min. intermission..  All tickets are general admission, therefore seating is first come, first serve.  While it is a small venue and therefore all seats are good acoustically, some seats will share tables.  The bar will be open for beer, wine and cocktails, however there will be no food service.  We ask, out of respect for the musicians, that beverages are purchased before the performance and during intermission.
